QT Optoelectronics now the Optoelectronics Group of Fairchild Semiconductor

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine, Jan. 18 -- Fairchild Semiconductor International reported that QT Optoelectronics Inc., a Fairchild Semiconductor company, is now the Optoelectronics Group of Fairchild Semiconductor.
QT Optoelectronics Inc. has been integrating its products into the Fairchild Semiconductor sales channel since May of 2000, which has bolstered Fairchild Semiconductor's offering of high-performance products for multiple end market uses, including computer, communications, automotive, consumer and industrial applications. The name change signifies the complete integration of over 1400 optoelectronic products into the Fairchild Semiconductor product portfolio.
Integrating the Optoelectronics Group into Fairchild Semiconductor operations strengthens our positions in the communications and computer markets, while creating new opportunities in the automotive and consumer segments, says Kirk Pond, Fairchild's president, chairman and CEO. Furthermore, it creates a platform we can use to increase our presence in the optoelectronics market through additional acquisitions and integration into the group.
