Lucent Signs Supply Pact with China's Liaoning Telecom
BEIJING, Jan. 12 -- Lucent Technologies has signed its largest contract ever with China's Liaoning Telecom. The $15-million contract is to supply optical networking products that will increase the capacity of the provincial networks of China's Liaoning Province and allow the company to offer new bandwidth-intensive data services to its customers, Lucent said. Liaoning Telecom is a subsidiary of China Telecom, China's largest telecommunications service provider.
According to the contract, Lucent will deliver its WaveStar OLS 400G -- an 80-channel dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system with a maximum capacity of 400 Gb/s.
