Global Crossing Shuffles Management
HAMILTON, Bermuda, Jan. 3 -- Global Crossing Ltd. has restructured its senior management team in order to bolster its new growth strategy, the company announced. David Walsh, formerly a COO, is now president and COO. Walsh is now responsible for all global operations, including the network, sales and marketing, product development and delivery, and customer care.
Gary Cohen, also a former COO, has been named president and COO of Global Crossing Solutions, Global Crossing's new unit designed to provide managed network outsourcing and solutions to global customers -- one of Global Crossing's largest growth opportunities, the company said.
Other changes included former Atlantic Crossing CEO Wally Dawson as executive vice president of the company's Global Network unit, where he will be responsible for all integrated network operations, including planning, design, and construction. Wim Huisman, CEO of Global Crossing Europe, is retiring and will be succeeded by Carl Grivner, the former COO of Global Crossing North America. Huisman will become nonexecutive chairman of Global Crossing Europe. Jim Demitrieus, former president of IXnet and IPC, will succeed Grivner as COO for Global Crossing North America.
