EXFO to Triple Manufacturing Capacity
QUEBEC, Canada, Dec. 15 -- Citing the success of its fiber optic test, measurement and monitoring instruments, EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. has decided to invest $20 million on the expansion of its manufacturing capacity. The company will bolster manufacturing operations at two facilities in Vanier, Quebec, including one plant dedicated to portable and monitoring division products and another one to industrial and scientific division products.
EXFO also plans to move its research and development, marketing and administrative employees to a new 150,000 sq-ft facility located in the Quebec Metropolitan High-Tech Park next fall, which makes a third building available for manufacturing purposes.
The strong demand for EXFO products has been a key driver behind our expansion plans, said Germain Lamonde, chairman, CEO and president of EXFO. We're witnessing wide market acceptance for products that EXFO introduced during the last 12 months like our proprietary Optical Spectrum Analyzer for DWDM network deployment, our DWDM Passive Component test system for mux/demux component manufacturing and our Tunable Laser Source for next-generation C+L-band applications.
When all is said and done EXFO will have 180,000 sq ft of manufacturing space, compared with 55,000 sq ft prior to the investment, enabling them to triple their manufacturing capabilities.
