Elbit's El-Op Wins $5.75 Million Navy Contract for Laser Designators
HAIFA, Israel, Dec. 8 -- Electro-Optics Industries Ltd. (El-Op), a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., has obtained a contract from the US Navy to supply 48 laser designators for the Navy's F-18 aircraft. The contract is worth about $5.75 million, the company said. El-Op has until February of 2002 to deliver the laser designators.
This is another of several contracts acquired by El-Op for its laser designator system, which is a type of targeting system designed for precision munitions delivery for weapons platforms. El-Op is currently supplying its systems for a number of attack helicopters, including the Cobra, Apache and Comanche, as well as for a number of fighter aircraft such as the F-16 and F-18.
