Semiconductor Laser International Posts Net Loss for Third Quarter
BINGHAMTON, N.Y., Nov. 17 -- Semiconductor Laser International Corp., manufacturer of high-power semiconductor lasers, has announced revenue and earnings for the three months ended September 30. The company posted revenue of $.4 million, a decrease of about 7 percent compared with revenue during the same 1999 period. The company also reported a net loss from operations of $1.3 million for the third quarter, compared with a net loss of $.7 million for the same period last year. The net loss applicable to common stock for the third quarter of this year was $0.04 per share, compared with $0.05 per share in the third quarter of 1999 when there were about 15 million fewer weighted average shares outstanding.
For the nine months ended September 30, 2000, SLI reported revenues of $1.2 million, an increase of about 7 percent compared with revenues for the first nine months of 1999. SLI also reported a net loss from operations of $3.6 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2000, compared with a net loss of $2.8 million for the same 1999 period. The net loss applicable to common stock in the first nine months of 2000 was $0.14 per share, compared with $0.22 per share in the third quarter of 1999 when there were more than 12 million fewer weighted average shares outstanding.
