MURRAY HILL, N.J., Nov. 9 -- Lucent Technologies has reorganized its senior management team in an effort to integrate its sales and service organizations and quicken the pace of decision making.Ben Verwaayen, 48, vice chairman, will be responsible for worldwide marketing and sales and services. Bob Holder, 54, previously executive vice president of Corporate Operations, will take charge of the company's product organizations, manufacturing and supply chain management operations.
Deborah Hopkins, 45, chief financial officer, will work with Lucent's chief information officer Larry Kittelberger on developing the company's information systems infrastructure.
Linking our finance organization and our CIO organization will better enable us to uniformly redesign our key processes and systems to increase our efficiency and simplify the way we do business, said Lucent's recently hired chairman Henry Schacht.
Last month Lucent fired its chairman Rich McGinn, posted a 22-percent drop in fourth-quarter profits and slashed its sales and profit outlook for the first quarter of 2001.
