Art photonics Appoints CEO: People in the News: 10/23/24

TRUMPF Inc. named Heidi-Melanie Maier vice president of technical services. Maier has worked for TRUMPF for the past 24 years, previously serving as national service director and director of sales and marketing for TruServices and Smart Services at TRUMPF’s North American headquarters in Farmington, Connecticut.

BERLIN — Fiber optics developer art photonics GmbH appointed Stefanie Foerster CEO. Foerster has held previous senior leadership roles at thyssenkrupp and Siemens.

JENA, Germany — asphericon, a provider of optical systems, appointed Sebastion Henkel vice president of global sales and procurement and Sebastian Steffenhagen product manager of the company’s BeamTuning brand. Henkel previously served as head of sales and procurement for the company. Prior to joining asphericon, Steffenhagen was part of the sales and construction/design team at Gero GmbH.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Optical interconnect technology solutions provider Avicena added Greg Dougherty to its board of directors. Dougherty currently serves as a director at Infinera and MaxLinear, and previously served as CEO of Oclaro from June 2013 until its acquisition by Lumentum in December 2018.

DETROIT — Quantum Opus LLC, a single-photon light detection systems producer, appointed Josh Cassada head of R&D with a focus on biomedical imaging and long-range space communications. Cassada is the company’s co-founder and held the position of CTO before exiting to join NASA. During his 11-year tenure at the agency, he totaled 157 days in space and three spacewalks. Cassada has also served as a military test pilot.
