ANELLO Photonics Partners with BEAMAGINE
Silicon photonics optical gyroscope technology developer ANELLO Photonics and solid-state lidar and vision solutions company BEAMAGINE have partnered to co-develop an enhanced visual simultaneous localization and mapping system (SLAM) system. The collaboration is targeting vehicle and equipment localization in GPS-limited environments for automotive and agricultural applications. The technology also has applications in high-definition mapping projects and municipal infrastructure maintenance, according to the collaborators.
The combination of technologies brings together the BEAMAGINE L3CAM lidar camera, which features sensor fusion from different imaging modes and a dedicated embedded processor for AI perception, with ANELLO’s GNSS/INS, an intelligent optical gyroscope-powered inertial navigation system. According to the collaborators, the system will provide plug-and-play integration into autonomous vehicle platforms for greater reliability and positioning accuracy in challenging conditions, leading to improved accuracy for HD mapping projects.
ANELLO and BEAMAGINE said that t
he partnership will additionally ensure that the integrated solution evolves with advancements in sensor technology and autonomous driving needs. Last month, ANELLO entered into a partnership with Key Dollar Cab, an OEM and technology integrator, to bring its optical gyroscope technology to agriculture applications.
