Netherlands Partners with New York State on Semiconductors

The Netherlands and New York State have established a partnership to strengthen innovation and collaboration in the semiconductor industry. Formalized in a memorandum of understanding, the partnership recognizes a shared interest in sustainability within the semiconductor industry, the opportunity for joint workforce development, and a hope to advance semiconductor R&D.

The partnership will allow for the exchange of best practices between New York and the Netherlands to drive innovative and sustainable solutions in semiconductor development and manufacturing. These could include innovative measures to bolster the semiconductor supply chain, maximize power and water efficiency, and the development of new materials.

Additionally, the memorandum provides opportunities for academic collaboration between New York and Dutch universities, including a New York State program which will sponsor the attendance of up to five students from State University of New York (SUNY) schools at the Eindhoven Semiconductor Summer School program this summer in the Netherlands. The 5-day intensive program for STEM Masters students is led by leading Dutch academic and industrial institutions.

The memorandum was signed by Governor Kathy Hochul and Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Liesje Schreinemacher during the New York/Netherlands Semicon Forum at NY CREATES’ Albany NanoTech Complex.
