Mojo Vision Partners with Waveguide Tech Developer DigiLens

Micro-LED technology company Mojo Vision has partnered with DigiLens, a developer of head-worn holographic display and waveguide technology, to integrate its micro-LED technology with DigiLens’ surface relief gratings (SRG) technology and waveguides for peak optimization.

Nikhil Balram, CEO of Mojo Vision, said that the partnership brings augmented reality (AR) glasses closer to mass-scale consumer electronics.

These devices, Balram said, require a single-panel RGB micro-LED display with very small pixels, high brightness, high efficiency, and a holographic waveguide with very good uniformity, large field of view, and minimal eye glow in a lightweight, compact form factor.

For DigiLens, the partnership follows earlier 2023 agreements that the company struck with OMNIVISION, to develop augmented reality/virtual reality/extended reality (AR/VR/XR) products for new markets and applications, and AR company Taqtile, to deliver a solution to assist deskless industrial and defense workers in completing essential, complex tasks using DigiLens’ ARGO smartglasses.

Last month, Mojo Vision announced it raised $22.4 million in a series A investment round to propel the development and commercialization of its micro-LED display technology, including for consumer applications. The company’s platform centers on high-performance quantum dot technology and encompasses a high-efficiency quantum dot ink and efficient blue micro-LED devices operating at submicrometer scale. Mojo Vision has developed a three-panel architecture that produces ultrahigh brightness with high efficiency for immersive AR headsets and glasses.
