OSI Systems Forms OSI Fibercomm
Hawthorne, Calif., Aug. 10 -- OSI Systems Inc. has created a separate company dedicated solely to the fiber optic industry. The new company, called OSI Fibercomm Inc., will function as a wholly owned subsidiary of OSI Systems. Jack Basi, formerly of Applied Micro Circuits Corp., was named as OSI Fibercomm's vice president and general manager, and Dr. Narayan Taneja, senior scientist and vice president at UDT Sensors (a wholly owned subsidiary of OSI Systems Inc.), will head R&D at the new company.
Since OSI Systems' introduction of high-speed silicon-based photodiodes, and our recently announced breakthrough in fiber optic silicon detector technology, we have received excellent feedback from our customer base and business partners, said Deepak Chopra, CEO of OSI Systems. We are very pleased that we will now have a single, cohesive point of presence devoted to growing our fiber optic business.
