TriEye’s SWIR Sensing Tech is Evaluated for Automotive Safety

TriEye, the CMOS-based SWIR sensing solution company that announced it had raised $74 million in new capital in November, will collaborate with Tier 1 automotive supplier Hitachi Astemo to enhance the capabilities of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for adverse weather and low-light conditions. The companies will work to accelerate the launch of TriEye technology.

Hitachi Astemo manufactures systems for major OEMs. Per the collaboration, it will evaluate TriEye’s SEDAR solution and validate that it can be easily integrated into its own ADAS system to deliver mission-critical 2D and 3D depth information under low-visibility conditions. The SEDAR solution from TriEye produces high-definition image data and a detailed depth-map for automated driving applications. Based on the CMOS-based sensor called the “Raven,” the SEDAR solution operates in the SWIR spectrum to enable high-definition SWIR imaging and deterministic 3D mapping in one sensor modality.

TriEye has raised $96 million. Investors include Intel Capital and Porsche Ventures.
