Siemens Invests in OMM

SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 25 -- Siemens Venture Capital and Mustang Ventures, the corporate venture group of Siemens Information and Communication Networks, have made a multi-million dollar investment in Optical Micro-Machines Inc. (OMM) of San Diego. The investment, made during OMM's latest round of funding, is in keeping with Siemens Information and Communication Networks' previous announcement that it would use OMM optical switch modules in its TransXpress Optical Service Node -- an optical cross connect system.
Siemens' investment in OMM represents our belief in a strong future for optical switching and in OMM, specifically, said Jost Spielvogel, member of the Group Board, Siemens Information and Communication Networks.
