US Marines Place Order for Northrop Grumman's Litening II

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 25 -- Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Electronic Sensors and Systems Sector announced a $25 million contract to supply Litening II pods for the US Marine Corp.'s AV-8B Harrier aircraft. The company will also provide logistical support, spares and training.
The navies of Italy and Spain will receive the Litening II pods for their AV-8B aircraft under the same contract. The US Marines ordered nine pods, while the Italian Navy ordered four pods and the Spanish Navy two pods.
The Litening II comes with forward-looking infrared, CCD television, laser spot tracker/range finder sensors, a laser marker and a laser designator.
