Spectra-Physics, GSI Lumonics Sign $5 Million Supply Pact
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 6 -- Spectra-Physics has reached a $5 million agreement to supply lasers to GSI Lumonics Advanced Manufacturing Systems in Wilmington, Mass. Spectra-Physics is a majority owned subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corp
This agreement is to supply high-power, diode-pumped, Q-switched lasers, based on Spectra-Physics' patented FCbar technology, said Patrick L. Edsell, chairman, president and CEO of Spectra-Physics. These lasers will be incorporated into systems used primarily to trim components in semiconductor circuits for computer and wireless communications applications. This new supply agreement reflects the continuing strength of demand for our advanced all-solid-state lasers.
