Lynred Delivers IR Detector to MicroCarb

Lynred announced the delivery of the first flight-model of its largest short-wave infrared detector (SWIR), NGP, to the MicroCarb space mission. The mission, to be led by French space agency CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales), is planned for launch in 2021.

The detector will be at the center of the high-resolution spectrometer instrument onboard the MicroCarb satellite that will monitor and capture CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. The NGP (next-generation panchromatic) flight model is the first SWIR detector in a class higher than 1024 x 1024 pixels.

The detector is also a candidate for inclusion in the European Space Agency (ESA) CO2M mission, which is expected to launch in 2025 with an objective to measure CO2 fluxes, as well as an associated geographical cartography of the fluxes around the earth.
