The systems are designed to protect aircrews by detecting, tracking, and jamming incoming infrared threats. The systems have been installed worldwide on more than 1500 aircraft of more than 80 types.
The initial indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract was announced in January in the amount of $3.6 billion. Under the contract, the Air Force may issue task or delivery order awards up to the ceiling amount specified within the contract. The work under that contract is expected to conclude in 2025.
