VTT, Hitachi to Collaborate on Silicon, Optics
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hitachi High-Technologies Corp. to collaborate on the development and commercialization of silicon photonics and optical data transfer components.
The partnership will provide VTT with greater opportunities to facilitate adaptation of new silicon photonics technologies developed at VTT, while Hitachi’s customers will gain product value.
“This is an excellent, mutually beneficial operating model that will enable us to expand our international customership,” said Himadri Majumdar, head of sales and customer partnership at VTT. “Together, we can provide our customers with complete solutions.”
Joint research and development projects will allow both parties to combine their technological competences and create new solutions to meet end users’ needs. Another aim is to utilize the manufacturing capability of VTT Memsfab, which engages in the contract manufacture of micro- and nanoelectronics materials and components.
VTT Technical Research Centre is a research and technology company. Hitachi High-Technologies is a developer of electronic device, scientific, medical, industrial, and IT systems.
