Optical Solutions Lands $16-Million Contract
MINNEAPOLIS, May 25 -- Optical Solutions Inc. has agreed to a four-year contract in which it will provide its FiberPath solution to Integrated Broadband Network (IBN). The Indianapolis-based provider of communication services to the home has agreed to pay Optical Solutions Inc. $16-million for the optical solution.
We scoured the marketplace for three years before finding a true fiber-to-the-home solution like Optical Solutions' FiberPath to catapult our business, said Sheldon Phelps, IBN president and CEO. Providing fiber to the home to our customers was a no-brainer to us -- copper and coax are at the end of their bandwidth capacity, whereas fiber optics has just scratched the surface.
Optical Solutions' FiberPath sends and receives laser-driven light photons from its central office to and from a residence-mounted node through a passive optical network. Its technology converts light signals into electrical signals needed for telephones, televisions and data modems.
