Three INRS Professors Named OSA Senior Members
Three professors from the INRS Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications Research Centre in Montreal have been named senior members of the Optical Society (OSA) in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of knowledge in optics and photonics.
François Légaré, Luca Razzari and Federico Rosei, who is also the director of the center, all have over 10 years of professional experience in the fields and are among the four Canadians on the list of 182 researchers worldwide to receive this recognition from the OSA in 2017.
Légaré was recognized by the OSA for his outstanding contributions in ultrafast molecular imaging and the development and application of high-power ultrafast infrared lasers. He and his team developed the concept of frequency domain optical parametric amplification and helped spur advances in interpreting nonlinear optical signals in biological tissue. He also oversees the Advanced Laser Light Source Laboratory.
Razzari was selected for his important contributions in the development of photonic devices for the ultrafast processing of optical data. He was also a pioneer in the use of nanoantenna resonances to improve terahertz spectroscopy. In addition, Razzari has helped disseminate the most recent findings in optics and photonics through the organization of several international conferences.
Rosei, who holds the Canada Research Chair in Nanostructured Materials, was chosen by the OSA for his leadership in the field of photonic materials and optoelectronic devices, particularly for next-generation solar technologies. With the help of his team, Rosei has conducted groundbreaking work on the synthesis and characterization of quantum dots, as well as contributing to their integration in photovoltaic or photoelectrochemical devices and luminescent solar concentrators.
OSA is an international scientific and professional association for optics and photonics.
