CDT Wins $10 Million in Fiber Optic Orders
PITTSBURGH, May 11 -- Cable Design Technologies said that it has received fiber optic cable orders worth $10 million from a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier and a Competitive Access Provider/Wireless Service Provider. The orders comprise CDT's hybrid fiber optic cables as well as cables integrating Corning's large effective area fiber (LEAF).
Our fiber optics group is taking advantage of robust demand for its fiber optic cable and active and passive components, said Paul Olson, president and CEO of CDT. In addition to the three multi-million dollar orders for fiber optic cable this quarter, we have seen increased interest in our fiber optic cable and connectors which illustrates the recognition of our growing presence in the optical marketplace.
According to CDT, LEAF fiber carries more information over a greater distance. This has the potential to enhance the output of fiber optic networks that use advanced dense-wavelength-division multiplexing technology.
