FLIR, IRIS Systems Sign Dealon Brake Inspection Systems

PORTLAND, Ore., May 3 -- FLIR Systems Inc. has agreed to supply IRIS Systems of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with $4.7-million worth of FLIR's multispectral imaging camera systems. IRIS plans to utilize FLIR's proprietary camera technology in inspection and monitoring systems for the brakes, bearings and tires of commercial vehicles. The parties said the sale represents the first delivery of cameras to IRIS as the company enters the initial phase of its production.

IRIS said it designed its system to make the inspection of commercial vehicle braking systems easier, faster and more efficient. The system, which is deployed in a mobile unit -- usually a mini-van -- employs FLIR's multispectral imager and other OEM equipment including monitors, recorders and video printers. According to IRIS, the technology is intended to enable inspectors to make accurate, on-the-spot determinations of malfunctioning braking systems, thus allowing them to take appropriate action immediately.
