Zygo Wins Metrology System Ordersfrom Telecom Firms
MIDDLEFIELD, Conn., April 14 -- Zygo Corp. has received multiple orders for its expanded line of automated test systems for the telecommunications industry from leading manufacturers of optical-based components and subsystems. Zygo expects to begin shipments of the orders, which were received during the third quarter, in June 2000. The company said the interferometer-based products ordered are used for noncontact, 3-D surface characterization of microlens arrays, discrete microlenses, molded aspheric optics, miniature mirrors, miniature filters and various other micro-optical components.
John Roth, product manager for Zygo, stated, We are pleased at the overwhelming acceptance of our products from leading manufacturers in this high-technology growth market. The high-performance attributes and unique capabilities of these products have positioned us to achieve further penetration into the optical telecommunications market by addressing the metrology needs of current and next generation optical devices, such as dense wavelength division multiplexing devices and Terabit routers, critical for the all-optical network.
