Laserscope Wins FDA Clearance for Hair Removal Laser
SAN JOSE, Calif., Mar. 15 -- Laserscope has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration to market its Lyra Laser System for use in removing hair on patients with the full range of skin tones, Fitzpatrick Types I through VI. The Lyra system was cleared in late August 1999 for various dermatological applications, including the treatment of vascular lesions such as leg veins.
Laserscope said the Lyra system is the first system designed to remove hair from darker skin types as well as light. The company believes that it is the only laser currently approved by the FDA for treatment of the full range of Fitzpatrick skin types.
