Advanced Lighting Technologies Creates Telecom Unit

CLEVELAND, Mar. 3 -- Advanced Lighting Technologies Inc. has launched a fiber optic telecommunications business unit to develop and manufacture passive optical telecommunications devices and components. The unit's current products include wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) filters, highly reflective films for dense WDM applications, and optical fiber assemblies and micro-optics to reduce insertion losses in dense WDM, metro, and optical switching systems.
Advanced Lighting's new unit operates out of the Deposition Sciences Inc. (DSI) business campus in Santa Rosa, Calif. DSI is an advanced thin-film coating company solely owned by Advanced Lighting. The telecommunications unit employs DSI-developed proprietary coating equipment, advanced thin-film processes and measurement capabilities in a variety of applications.
