Favero Joins Fibercore as Senior Engineer
Dr. Fernando Favero has joined optical fiber manufacturer Fibercore Ltd. as senior measurement and applications engineer.
Favero joins the development team with experience in optical fiber and sensor development, design, and fabrication, as well as fiber Bragg grating inscription on standard and photonic crystal fibers.
As a researcher at the University of Bath in England, Favero designed, manufactured and characterized multicore fibers for endoscopy. He also created sensor fabrication techniques at the Institute of Photonic Technology in Jena, Germany, and created the world's shortest photonic crystal fiber sensor. As a visiting researcher at the Institute of Photonic Sciences in Barcelona, Spain, Favero fabricated a high-temperature sensor for European Space Agency aircraft using fiber Bragg grating techniques.
He received his doctorate from Pontificia Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro.
"Fernando's appointment will enable us to accelerate innovation at Fibercore, [and] design and develop complex new fibers and solutions for our customers in both existing and new market segments," said Aurelien Bergonzo, head of strategy and new markets at Fibercore.
