UK Machine Vision Group Selects New Leadership
The U.K. Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA) has chosen a new leadership team and welcomed new committee members.
Ian Alderton, sales director of Alrad Imaging, was recently elected chairman, and Paul Wilson, director of Scorpion Vision Ltd. was elected vice chairman.
Alderton succeeds Mark Williamson, managing director at Stemmer Imaging Ltd., who was chairman for 13 years.
“Mark has done a great job for the association for many years and his experience and stature in the industry has ensured continuity through the many changes the UKIVA has experienced in recent years,” Alderton said of Williamson. “These include transition from an independent organization to be a special interest group of the Processing & Packaging Machinery Association [in 2009] and the passing of founder member Don Braggins [in 2011].”
Williamson will remain on the UKIVA committee. He is also a member of the PPMA board.
Alderton’s election marks the second time an Alrad employee has led UKIVA; marketing executive Geoff Smith was chairman from 1997 to 1999.
The organization said it will now elect leaders every two years, with each new vice chairman taking the top spot after the chairman’s term expires.
Meanwhile, representatives from Acrovision Ltd., Bytronic Automation Ltd., ClearView Imaging Ltd. and Scandinavian Machine Vision Ltd. were elected to join the UKIVA committee. The panel also includes members from Framos GmbH and Multipix Imaging Components Ltd.
“With a number of new members joining the association, we felt it was the right time to restructure the committee and to get some of the newer members involved,” Williamson said.
