AOptix Names New CEO
Free-space optical communications firm AOptix Technologies Inc. has named Michael Klayko CEO.
Klayko was CEO of Brocade Communications Systems Inc. from 2005 to 2013, and during that time grew the company’s revenues fourfold to $2.3 billion. Before that Klayko was CEO of Rhapsody Networks, which was acquired by Brocade in 2003.
He previously held leadership positions at McDATA Corp., EMC Corp., Hewlett Packard and IBM. He currently serves on the board of directors at PMC Sierra and Allscripts.
AOptix develops tower-mounted systems for transmitting multiple gigabits of data per second, over distances up to 10 km, via IR lasers. Klayko said AOptix is in the process of building a link between New York and New Jersey for trading in the financial services industry.
