Intel Invests $24.8M in Smart Glasses Firm Vuzix
Intel Corp. has made a $24.8 million investment to accelerate Vuzix Corp.’s development of fashionable smart glasses.
The tech giant purchased 49,626 shares of Series A preferred stock, representing approximately 30 percent of Vuzix’s total outstanding stock.
Vuzix said its wearable display technology is based on next-generation optics and displays that will be able to fit fashionable glasses frames. The company already offers personal display and wearable computing devices for virtual and augmented reality.
