Flir Gets $27M Order for Threat Detection Systems
Flir Systems Inc. has received a $27.1 million order for its integrated chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives (CBRNE) threat response system under a five-year contract with the U.S. Department of Defense.
The systems provide integrated tools for detection, identification, sample collection, testing and personal safety for use by military personnel performing site assessment and consequence management missions. They are to be produced at Flir’s facility in Elkridge, Md.
“This award is the outcome of our ability to design and produce highly-integrated systems that leverage many different types of sensing and CBRNE technologies,” said Flir CEO Andy Teich.
Flir provides advanced thermal imaging and threat detection systems for airborne and ground-based surveillance, condition monitoring, research and development, manufacturing process control, search and rescue, drug interdiction, navigation, transportation safety, border and maritime patrol, and environmental monitoring.
