Precision Optics Wins Medical Endoscope Contracts

GARDNER, Mass., Feb. 22 -- Precision Optics Corp. Inc. has received orders worth approximately $1.1 million for medical endoscopes. Intuitive Surgical Inc. of Mountain View, Calif., has placed a follow-on order for stereo endoscopes; this order is scheduled for delivery between June and December 2000. Precision Optics also received an order for multiple units of its new 5-mm laparoscopes from a major distributor of rigid, monocular laparoscopes. The company said the instruments are used primarily for diagnostics and minimally invasive surgical procedures in the abdomen.
Of the $1.1 million in orders, Precision Optics plans to ship approximately $235,000 in the quarter ending June 30, 2000. The company expects to deliver the balance of the orders between July 2000 and April 2001.
