Ghent University Offers Silicon Photonics Summer School
Silicon photonics is an increasingly important area of research and technology, making ongoing education crucial for those in the industry.
A Silicon Photonics Summer School will bring together next-generation scientists and industry leaders to learn more about key functionalities and potential applications. It is designed for graduate- and doctoral-level students, as well as postdocs and research staff, who are active in the field of silicon photonics.
The program will be hosted by Ghent University’s Interuniversity Microelectronics Center from June 29 to July 4. It has been developed in the framework of Plat4M, an integrated research project funded by the European Commission.
Class topics will include basic components of silicon photonics as well as related technology, simulation and design methods, and applications. Speakers will cover silicon photonics’ potential in areas such as CMOS processes, light sources, microelectronics and high-speed modulation.
The summer program also will feature a hands-on design session as well as a poster session in which participating researchers will present projects.
