Edinburgh Instruments Names New CEO
Optoelectronics industry veteran Mark Vosloo has been appointed CEO of Edinburgh Instruments Ltd., effective Oct. 1, the laser and analytical spectrometer maker announced Monday.
Vosloo joins EI from Oxford Instruments, where he has held various management and senior commercial roles for the past nine years. Before that, he worked in the optoelectronics industry for companies including Linos Photonics Ltd. and Horiba Jobin Yvon Ltd.

In announcing Vosloo's appointment, Techcomp Europe CEO Chris O'Connor said, "We are delighted to appoint someone with Mark's experience to lead the business into its next phase of growth. His background and skills are a perfect fit with the dedicated and highly qualified team in Scotland, plus his customer-focused approach will bring a new dimension to our partners and loyal customers."

EI was formed in 1971 as the first spinoff of Heriot-Watt University. Its facilities, just outside Edinburgh, employ 65 people in the company's two divisions, Photonics and Sensors.
Techcomp Europe Group is a manufacturer and distributor of analytical instruments, life sciences equipment and laboratory instruments. The group consists of Froilabo, with factories in France and Romania, which specializes in ultralow-temperature technologies; Precisa, based in Switzerland, with products for high-precision metrology and weighing; and UK-based Dynamica, which makes analytical and laboratory instruments.
