Alphanov, NKT Photonics Collaborate on Photonic Crystal Fiber Interfacing
Alphanov, the Optics and Laser Technology Center of the Route des Lasers cluster, and NKT Photonics of Birkerød, Denmark, have partnered to develop interfacing solutions for photonic crystal fibers (PCF).
One challenge for PCFs is end preparation such as splicing or connectorization that allows users to easily integrate PCFs into various fiber architectures for bioimaging, metrology, sensing and materials processing applications.

Alphanov will supply end-treatment solutions for NKT Photonics, including connectors, sealed and cleaved PCFs, end-capped PCFs and PCFs with mode adaptors. The company’s entire product line will be addressed, including active double-clad large-mode-area fibers such as the DC-200/40-PZ-Yb, and rod-type and passive PCFs such as nonlinear and hollow-core fibers.
“We have developed specific know-how to ease integration of PCFs for demanding industrial and scientific users,” said Pascal Dupriez, head of Alphanov’s laser department.
