Dover Named President of American Laser Society
Dr. Jeffrey S. Dover has been appointed president of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS) Inc. He will serve in the position for one year.
Dover is an associate clinical professor of dermatology at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., adjunct professor of medicine (dermatology) at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H., and adjunct associate professor of dermatology at Brown Medical School in Providence, R.I. He also is the director of SkinCare Physicians in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
His research interests include lasers in medicine, cosmetic surgery and medical education. He is the author of more than 350 scientific publications and has co-authored and edited more than 40 textbooks.
Dover is the founding editor of
Journal Watch for Dermatology, produced by the publishers of the
New England Journal of Medicine. He is past president of both the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the New England Dermatological Society, and organizes and directs numerous medical conferences, including the annual Controversies in Cutaneous Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Symposium.
He has received multiple nominations for “Teacher of the Year” at Harvard Medical School and won the Leon Goldman Memorial and Ellet Drake awards from the ASLMS. He also was honored for his work in laser surgery by the Sturge Weber Foundation at its 20th annual gala.
Dover began his term as president at Laser 2013, the ASLMS annual scientific conference held in Boston.
