Biolase Appoints Key Managers

Dental laser manufacturer Biolase Inc. announced this week two key senior management appointments to strengthen its overall operations and to promote its core dental product franchise.

Dr. Samir Chowdhury was named general manager. Chowdhury will oversee Biolase’s new product development and engineering efforts as well as assist in developing strategic business plans, creating new lines of business, marketing current technologies and establishing new revenue streams.

Prior to joining the company, he held the general manager and chief operating officer positions at Gamma Medica Inc. At Siemens Molecular Imaging, he was senior principal research scientist; at Phillips Medical, he worked in research and development.

Biolase also appointed Colleen Boswell as its vice president of regulatory affairs. In her new position, Boswell will oversee and execute the company’s regulatory compliance initiatives, providing oversight for all US and international regulatory matters, including filings and interactions with regulatory authorities.

Before joining the company, she was the vice president of regulatory affairs at Sybron Dental Specialties Inc., a Danaher company. She worked previously at Alpha Therapeutic Corp. and Baxter Healthcare Corp.
