Raytheon’s Russell, Horkovich Honored by AIAA

Mark E. Russell and James A. Horkovich of Raytheon Co. were honored as the 2012 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Fellows on May 9 during the Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Raytheon said.

Russell is the company’s vice president of engineering, technology and mission assurance. He has published many peer-reviewed papers and holds patents in the areas of microwave and millimeter-wave components, high-range resolution radar applications and missile seekers.

Horkovich is the chief engineer of the collaborative weapons project in the advanced missiles and unmanned systems product line at Raytheon Missile Systems. He has served as an active member of the AIAA for more than 37 years and has chaired the Directed Energy Program Committee and the Biennial Forum for Weapon Systems Effectiveness.

The honor of AIAA Fellow is given to members of the institute who have made notable and valuable contributions to the arts, sciences or the technology of aeronautics and astronautics. Twenty-eight members were awarded this distinction for 2012.
