Gigaphoton’s Korean Unit Begins Operations
Lithography light source manufacturer Gigaphoton Inc.’s wholly owned subsidiary, Gigaphoton Korea Inc., began business operations May 1.
The subsidiary will promote new business opportunities with Korean device manufacturers as potential customers and will reinforce its local technical support system for existing customers of Gigaphoton DUV lasers for semiconductor lithography systems.
Gigaphoton previously operated its excimer laser business through Ushio Korea Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ushio Inc. However, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Komatsu after Komatsu purchased 50 percent of its shares owned by Ushio Inc. in May 2011. Now, Gigaphoton has begun taking over its business in Korea from Ushio and will transfer it to its Korean subsidiary.
This is the company’s second established subsidiary to reinforce its global customer support system. Its wholly owned US subsidiary began in April 2008. (See:
