Amplitude Systèmes, Institut d’Optique Open Joint Research Lab
Ultrafast laser specialist Amplitude Systèmes and the Laboratoire Charles Fabry have established a joint research laboratory that will support 10 researchers working on high-performance lasers.
Called DEFI, the new lab is based at the Institut d’Optique in Palaiseau and will focus on diode-pumped ultrafast lasers in particular. The team will work on both emerging concepts and prototype laser development for the next generation of ultrafast sources.
Amplitude has worked on ytterbium ultrafast lasers with Laboratoire Charles Fabry since 2006. This collaboration already has demonstrated several world-class results, including shortest duration from oscillators and regenerative amplifiers, sub-100-fs high-energy fiber lasers, and femtosecond laser coherent combining.
Earlier this year, Amplitude won a Prism Award at Photonics West for its Satsuma HE ultrafast laser, which is designed for industrial applications. (See:
