Cymer Third-Quarter Revenues Increase 36 Percent
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 28 -- Cymer Inc., a supplier of excimer lasers for deep-ultraviolet photolithography, has reported third quarter revenues of $58,934,000. Revenues rose 36 percent from the $43,409,000 reported in the second quarter of fiscal 1999, and 33 percent from the $44,448,000 reported in last year's third quarter. Net income for the third quarter was $3,450,000, or 12 cents per diluted share, an increase of 137 percent from the $1,453,000, or five cents per diluted share, reported for the same period in fiscal 1998.
We're seeing a continued strengthening of the semiconductor industry, said Robert Akins, Cymer's president and CEO. In addition to giving us better visibility for the next several quarters, improved industry conditions helped drive a 57 percent sequential increase in customer order bookings totaling $80,635,000. Our order growth is clearly being driven by demand for our newest ELS-6000 2-kHz krypton fluoride laser.
