Rigaku Acquires BaySpec’s Handheld Raman Product Lines

Through its acquisition of BaySpec Inc.’s handheld Raman technology and product lines, Rigaku Americas Corp. has formed a new division, Rigaku Raman Technologies Inc.

Rigaku’s new handheld Raman instruments combine patented optics and spectral analysis techniques with telecom-developed optical components to provide fast handheld chemical identification and composition analyzer for explosives detection.

BaySpec develops and manufactures spectral instruments for biomedical, pharmaceutical, homeland security and fiber optic sensing applications.

Rigaku manufactures laboratory and industrial x-ray diffractometers and spectrometers, crystallography instrumentation, x-ray generators, x-ray optics and imaging systems, thermal analysis instrumentation and nondestructive testing products.
