Bruker Wins JPEO-CBD Contract
Bruker Detection Corp. announced it has received a contract for 40 systems from the Improved Point Detection System – Lifecycle Replacement (IPDS-LR) program through the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD) for use by the US Navy. In combination with two other awards related to system support, the contracts are worth about $5.8 million in 2011.
Deliveries of the systems will begin in late 2011 and continue into 2012.
The IDPS-LR system is based on the company’s RAID-S2 trace gas detector for the sensing of chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals. The system uses ion mobility spectrometry technology and is designed for long-term monitoring of ambient air. It can detect the presence of hazardous chemical vapors in the interior and exterior of ships, buildings and shelters.
