Samsung Licenses Tech from Tessera

The System LSI Div. of South Korea-based Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has licensed from !%Tessera Technologies Inc.%! the OptiML zoom image enhancement solution for miniature cameras. The technology from Tessera, of San Jose, Calif., provides 3x zoom capability without any moving parts and can be used in cell phones, portable video recorders and other camera-equipped mobile devices. It combines lens designs with specialized algorithms to provide zoom solutions that are smaller, more cost-effective, easier to manufacture and more reliable, according to the company.
