AMP, Pirelli Sign Fiber Optic Marketing Agreement

HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 16 -- AMP Inc. and Pirelli Cables and Systems North America have formed an alliance that will make AMP the single-source provider of Pirelli fiber optic cable for the US premises cabling market. Under the terms of the agreement, the AMP/Pirelli cable will be manufactured solely by Pirelli and sold and marketed exclusively by AMP. Each company will utilize its respective strengths in manufacturing and engineering. According to Darin Clause, Pirelli's senior product manager, a growing demand for high-speed networks is expected to fuel a surge in the use of fiber optic cable in premise applications.
