The Russian Ministry of Health
The Russian Ministry of Health has
chosen PerkinElmer Inc. of Wellesley, Mass., to be the primary supplier of neonatal
screening technologies. The ministry has announced an increase in the number of
standard screening tests performed on newborns. The new tests include checks for
cystic fibrosis, adrenal hyperplasia and galactosemia, in addition to the checks
that are already in place for hypothyroidism and phenylketonuria. The products
supplied will include reagents, software and instrumentation. Three of the five
tests will be performed using the company’s Delfia platform.
In addition, PerkinElmer has announced
the acquisition of UK-based Clinical & Analytical Service Solutions Ltd. The
latter will be integrated into PerkinElmer’s OneSource service products
operation. This line consolidates laboratory service needs, which should increase
productivity.
