Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. of Hemel Hempstead, UK, has announced
that it will provide the Scottish Metabolomics Facility (ScotMet), located at the
University of Glasgow, with technology to advance the field of metabolomics. Funded
by the Scottish Universities Life Science Alliance, ScotMet is run jointly by the
universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde. It will install four of the company’s
mass spectrometers, including an LTQ Orbitrap Velos with electron transfer dissociation
and high-field asymmetric waveform ion mobility source, a DSQ-II gas chromatography/mass
spectrometer and two Exactive liquid chromatography/mass spectrometer benchtop instruments.
