Bruker Acquires Product Lines
Bruker Corp. announced the closing of its acquisition of three former Varian Inc. product lines from Agilent Technologies Inc., which were divested in Agilent’s May 14 acquisition of Varian.
The former Varian product lines are now part of the new Bruker Chemical Analysis Division (CAD), which is part of the Bruker Daltonics mass spectrometry business. The new CAD sector products include laboratory gas chromatography (Lab GC), gas chromatography triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC-QQQ-MS) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) systems.
In addition, Agilent and Bruker have entered supply and transitional services agreements to facilitate the uninterrupted delivery of products and services to new and existing customers of the three acquired product lines.
Bruker will continue to operate the product lines from facilities in Australia, the Netherlands and Fremont, Calif. Additionally, more than 250 former Varian staff members will join Bruker, including key management, R&D, operations, sales and marketing personnel, as well as applications and service personnel that support the newly acquired product lines.
Bruker Corp. provides high-performance scientific instruments and solutions for molecular and materials research, and industrial and applied analysis applications.
