IDS Sells 100,000th Camera

Almost exactly six years after the launch of its uEye industrial camera series, machine vision specialist IDS Imaging Development Systems recently sold its 100,000th camera. The 5-megapixel Gigabit Ethernet camera, decked out in a “golden” housing in honor of the occasion, went to Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany.

The “golden” 100,000th uEye camera made by IDS is presented to Bosch.

Torsten Wiesinger, sales and marketing director at IDS, presented the camera to Ulrich Bäumler, industrial image processing manager of the “Assembly Systems and Special Machinery” business unit at Bosch. The automotive supplier uses the cameras of the uEye series primarily for quality assurance.

“We launched our first own USB based camera in 2004,” Wiesinger said. “True to our corporate motto ‘It’s so easy,’ we have focused on easy handling right from the start of development.” As a result, all uEye cameras are supported by the same software package, which is designed for ease of use down to the last detail. This approach has proved the key to success, according to the company.

IDS asserts that the camera is quickly integrated with any environment, and that the product’s modular design reduces development time and cost even for custom-made models. The concept has enjoyed widespread acceptance: Today 100,000 USB and GigE cameras of the uEye series are in use worldwide in the industrial, scientific, medical and digital security industries.
