QD Vision Takes Silver at Edisons
QD Vision, a developer of Quantum Light nanotechnology-based products for solid-state lighting and displays, took home the silver medal at this year’s Edison Best New Product Awards for its Quantum Light optic in the Energy and Sustainability awards category.
The Quantum Light optic enables LED lighting companies to produce lamps and downlight fixtures that combine the pleasing warmth and color of incandescent bulbs with the energy efficiency of LED technology. The company’s first product, the Quantum Light optic is a key component of Nexxus Lighting’s Array Quantum LED R30 lamp.
“Innovation is more important now than ever,” said Sarah Miller Caldicott, great-grandniece of Thomas Edison and chairperson of the Edison Awards steering committee. “The Edison Award winners are the moving parts in the engine of economic growth. They inspire people to think outside the box, and their results improve the lives of people around the world.”
Given annually, the Edison Awards are a peer-review honor voted on by roughly 2000 members of the nonprofit Marketing Executives Networking Group, an association of top US executives and academics. The awards symbolize the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Alva Edison, America’s premier inventor.
“Winning the silver at the Edison Best New Product Awards is a very significant accomplishment for QD Vision,” said Dan Button, QD Vision president and CEO. “Our technology and products will play a key role in the development of new lighting and display products that deliver unmatched color and light while reducing the demand for energy.”
